Dear Fellow RoK Members,

Thanks to everyone’s hard work, We The People of this great country elected Donald J. Trump as our President on November 5th of 2024.  His leadership here and around the world, has been nothing less than amazing since being sworn into office just one year ago.

Despite the odds and opposition, President Trump is keeping his promises to Save Our Country! He has put together a phenomenal cabinet and together with Vice President JD Vance, the leadership of House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and the DOGE efforts of Elon Musk, serious work on every aspect of what it will take to Make America Great Again is underway.

Our job now is to keep our elected Republican representatives in the House and Senate on the same path in support of the President’s agenda – so far, their unification, although sometimes a struggle, has been so refreshing!

Unfortunately, We The People of Maryland, must now set our sights on Saving Our State!  And the opportunity to do so is quickly coming up in November of 2026.  The state’s budget deficit, electricity cost increases, serious crime, illegal aliens, infrastructure problems, and planned spending on the State’s educational Blueprint plan, all translate to further tax and fee increases – residents and businesses are leaving the state as they have just had enough!

We must work to change the Governor and add as many Republican representatives to the State House and Senate as possible.  In November of 2024, President Trump won 17 out of Maryland’s 23 counties.  He won ALL of the counties on the Eastern Shore! With the jobs and residential turnover President Trump is creating in the typically Blue counties surrounding Washington, combined with the coattails of his successes and recent significant Democrat failures, the existential opportunity with the right candidates may come together.  The shift in party affiliations here in Kent County as of the last election and through 2025 also indicates an opportunity for change in 2026 election outcomes – as of January 2026 there are now 14,384 registered voters, with Democrats out numbering Republicans by only 16!  There are 5,606 (39%) registered Democrats, 5,590 (38.9%) registered Republicans, and 2,945 (20.5%) registered Unaffiliated and other parties’ voters in Kent County.  At the precinct level, 5 out of 10 are majority registered Republican with the 5 Democrat majority precincts being Betterton and all those in Chestertown.

The challenges at the state level may seem daunting, but an important key to accomplishing change is joining the RoK. We closed 2024 with over 250 members, up by 59 over 2023 and had 191 members for 2025, an off election year! The club is committed to supporting each other through emails, our Facebook page and website, weekly activities at our headquarters in Chestertown, and other special events and important speakers.  Together with the Kent County Republican Central Committee, we will also be working hard on voter registration and election judge issues. Equal party election judge representation at the polls is finally a mandated priority for 2026 elections in Kent County!

We really hope you will not only renew your membership but also step up to help make things happen. While 2025 was relatively quiet, 2026 will require a lot of heavy lifting, but the more folks involved, the lighter the load will be for everyone.

Dues are still $20 per person and can be paid online by clicking the button:

Looking forward to seeing you throughout the coming year!!  And may God continue to Bless you, President Trump and America!

Sincerely,

Dawn Jacobs, President

Matt Gerstung, 1st Vice President

Wayne Benjamin, Membership Chair
